“We’re building a library…
A protest and a celebration.
Voices amplified, singing the joys of what these fields bring…”
Working with local communities and artists from further afield, we are building a library of concertina landscapes.
80 journals have been made by 97 contributors, the project is ongoing.
These pocket sized books are a celebration of our precious green spaces, habitats and memories.
The work began in response to fields, hedgerows, and ancient woodland near my home, all at risk from a proposal of mass development.
The collaborative and participatory processes involved in the making of these concertina books consider Flux and Flow through conversation, story-telling, noticing, recording and responding.
This project highlights the stake we have in our environments, and strengthens our roles as custodians.
The first exhibition of these works took place across September and October in Somerset, England.
The first chapter of this project was commissioned by Somerset Art Works with funding from Arts Council England.
